The project involved the Design and Construction of a 4.62ha greenfield development comprising civil and services infrastructure, 114 purpose built student accommodation dwellings, communal laundries, and an administration building housing reception, an administration hall and an amenities areas.
The student accommodation totals 516 beds in a mixture of unit designs. All bedrooms have attached ensuites, study desks and wardrobes with shared kitchen, living and dining areas. PBS Building included furnishings as part of the construction package. The accommodation has been designed to include buildings that are set into a landscaped environment rather than a street context.
The end design solution resulted in a hybrid of construction systems including waffle-pod concrete ground floors, light weight party wall liners and metal wall, floor and roof framing. External cladding was given increased interest by way of brick veneered ground floor elevations with feature brickwork panels and vertical colorbond custom orb cladding. The units were sized in clusters and followed ground contours to further enhance the integration of built and landscaped environments.
Internal finishes included kitchens with granite bench tops, full height tiled ensuite bathrooms and hard wearing components designed to withstand student use.
